Users of dating apps look at hundreds of profile pictures every time they log in, spending no more than a couple of seconds looking at each of them. Because of the affordances of the app, many of the pictures look similar, profile descriptions are often generic.

After spending long hours on dating apps myself, I couldn’t stand the repepivnes of the movements made by my thumb and the similarity of each profile I was seeing. I fed Google GEN AI and talktotransformer.com AI algorithms with profile pictures and one-sentence-descriptions found on Tinder dating app. AI algorithms generated new, artificial profiles based on the information they learned from.

Project comes from the reflection on dangers of AI. Algorithms fed only with existing, normalized database are unable to help creating social change. In this case, text generator learned from sexism and gender bias so strongly stereotyped in the world of heteronormative dating.
