Knitting is very often associated wit retirement. It requires lots of time that during productive years is occupied by work and consumption. Retirement means being outside of capitalistic structures - it can mean benefiting from it or struggling with it. For sure it means being outside of "economy of attention". 

My installation contains two knitted scarfs - one made by my mother and one by me. They are illustrating the graphs of our retirement financial predictions. My mother's scarf has high quality stiches, is made with sure hand, she took some time and precision to make it. Her retirement prediction gives her hope for some money in the future.

My scarf is made without a knitting skill, it is falling apart. I've been changing my jobs, interests and financial plans too often to build something stable. I've been worried about my future my whole life.
